An Archetypic Mushroom: Fly Agaric Amanita muscari

These were growing under Birch trees in local woodland. Apart from a large one, apparently mostly eaten by a rabbit, these were all we saw of this species in an hour and a half.There is an orange form but I prefer to photograph this red form.

The stereos are crosseye.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/40 at f10 or 1/30 at 11 and ISO 800, hand-held.

Gee Harold, these 'magic mushies' look like as if they might have been shot in The Night Garden where Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy hang out!
Wouldn't be surprised if that's where one would wind up after eating one of those babies! I love The Night Garden, one of the few shows worth watching on our ABC nowadays.

I was just remarking to m wife that we neither saw nor hear a single bird in the woods yesterday and it is ideal Robin & Blackbird habitat. The Blackbirds are not coming into our garden recently either.

You remind me of a work colleague who rushed home to watch Magic Roundabout every afternoon.

I love The Night Garden, one of the few shows worth watching on our ABC nowadays.

I find it a bit disturbing - especially the one called Whacky Baccy (or something like that)! It's a bit like David Lynch's 'Eraserhead', but for children!

Our blackbirds went somewhere during the summer. A couple have been seen in the garden recently, but only a couple of times.

Usually they are resident in the garden, claiming it as their patch, and that sometimes includes me!!
