    Well done Barrie. Lovely shot.

Your photo displays the difficulty in capturing this sort of bird. If it was me, I would have taken a similar compromise but perhaps reduced the exposure. The plumage detail is well brought out but at the expense of the burnt out highlights. No, I don't think I could get the detail in the shadows and highlights simultaneously straight from the camera but editing a less exposed image might get you there.

Thanks for your comments Peter, I saw the wind catch the feathers and I like images that show some movement or action and it was a very quick point and click to capture the moment, again I have not edited this image yet and I may be able to make corrections within the RAW image but the object realy was to show the feather detail I will work on it and post it again.

Many thanks and keep the comments coming its the only way to improve if every body said "what lovely image's" we would sit back and never improve

      Best regards

Thank you Barrie. I am never sure how people would react to comments in foto fare. I, like you, believe the only way to improve is to listen to comments - good and critical. Both are supportive as long as critism is constructive. From what you say and the image you have posted, you achieved your objective - Well done.
