      I just posted this out of interest as pure white male mallards are not common.

      Sometimes they results from crossbreeding - sometimes as a natural variant in a clutch.

      If anything it was a 'brighter' white than you get on swans (hence the title), and somewhat of a pain for exposure.

        Nice shots Nick and I agree with you, white birds are a real pain for getting the exposure right. I note that you used spot exposure metering which is what I would have used in this sort of situation. Bright sun and highly reflective colours are the devil.
