  • Do you recognise this place in OZ ?

Four iconic Aussie landmarks, those who've visited OZ and had a good bo-peep around should readily recognise these locations.

Local or expat Aussies are ineligble to participate ... including you, Mr Fiddler .. and NO Googling

    1.

    2.

    3.

    4.

A free beer to the first to identify all four locations ... redeemable in Wangaratta only on your next visit

Number 3 - is that the blue mountains, one of the three sisters (is that the right name?) I went there in 1990 and a mad aunt of mine made me walk along a narrow cliff-side path half way down and under a waterfall - very scary at the time as I'd just spent 2years unable to walk and was warned not to break my leg as I'd loose it...

Correct Steve, it is the Blue Mountains, NSW but not the Three Sisters. You get a free beer for that mate!

Yes indeed, that track leads under a waterfall and is quite a hazardous if you are in anyway disabled as both I and my partner were when we visited.

(I don't recall the lookout's name, or that of the distant escarpment)

OK, I'll bite, anything for a free beer even if it is a 24-hour flight and several connecting journeys away.

I recognize the fabulous coastline in the first, but can't remember what it is called. I think several forum members have posted photos from there.

I'm sure I've seen the photo of the bridge before, but can't remember exactly where it is. I think it's Tassie, either Hobart or Launceston, and is over the main entrance to the harbour which is why it has to be so high.

The landscape in the third looks similar to several photos that Ross has posted from the Blue Mountains so I'll guess it's somewhere there.

And the telescope looks familiar but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. As soon as Mark gives the answer I will probably kick myself for forgetting.

Oh well, not really a beer's worth there so I'll save on the air fare

Love the last one, some sort of beer catcher perhaps?

              Otherwise not clue, as usual.

John, #3, the Blue Mountains, NSW is good enough and earns you a beer. #4. btw is the Parkes Radio Telescope in NSW.

#2. is half right; it's Hobart's Tasman Bridge.
if you had not mentioned Launceston you'd have been awarded another pot, but perhaps just as well as our beers are more potent than mulled beer!

Andrew, #4. Although you've correctly identified it's purpose, the question is, where, not what is it.
However, for your characterisically intelligent guess, it's at least worth a round of applause.

Re: Do you recognise this place in OZ ?

Pic 4 is most likely in or near Parkes it featured in a movie about how it was to be used to communicate with the moon landing.

or it it could be something entirely different.

The theme of the film is the locals being hoisted by their own petard.
