  • Male Marsh Harrier Hunting

A beautiful male Marsh Harrier hunting over the reedbeds at Strumpshaw Fen on Monday. At the moment BIFs are still very much hit or miss for me - mainly miss!

    E-M1 II, 300mm f4 and MC-14.

        Your shots are very good.

How much of a crop are these ?

Also, did you use C-AF + TR (for AF tracking) ?

I think they are cropped by about 20-30%. I did use C-AF + TR but I think that was a mistake. The green rectangle follows the subject about well but it relies on the initial focus lock being correct. Most of the shots (including these) are softer than I was hoping for and I think I will try ordinary C-AF next time.

I do like the tracking, it does indicate that focus is good. But still get tricky results sometimes. We may expect too much.............
