Thats nice Paul, I really must sort a lens out thats compatible with the focus stacking to give my Mk1 EM 1 with latest update a try out.

It's a great feature. Whilst this isn't much of a shot really, it does show quite well how focus stacking can deliver images that would be impossible with a stopped-down lens (even if you could stop it down enough). Note how the whole camera from back to front is is focus and yet the keyboard only a little behind is totally blurred. That's because it's a stack of images shot at f2.8. If I had stopped down enough to get the whole camera in DOF in a single shot, the keyboard would have been much less blurred.

      Wonderful things Oly cameras!

That's certainly worked very well Paul. Impressive it can do that hand held. Does it work with other lenses as well as the 60mm macro? I ask as I don't have one of those . Well not yet anyway

Focus bracketing works with most, if not all, u43 lenses. You can then stack later in PP. Helicon Focus is excellent, but it costs (but much less than a lens):

Picolay does the same thing and it's free, but the results are not as consistent and it's a bit hard to use:

Focus stacking (stacked in camera) is easier and quicker, but all you get is a JPEG. For that you need one of the supported lenses:

          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8mm F1.8 Fisheye PRO.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 30mm F3.5 Macro.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 60mm F2.8 Macro.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 300mm F4.0 IS PRO.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm F2.8 PRO.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO.
          M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO.

I think the rationale is that stacking needs info on focus breathing (magnification changes during focus) which is only supported in certain lenses.

That's very 3D looking. Nicely done.

Nice shot Paul but it needs a better background IMO.

I know Alf - it's just a grab shot TBH. I was uploading files from the memory card and had the E-M1ii with the 60mm macro attached so just thought I'd give it a go at focus stacking on such a large object (!). It's more of interest from the focus-stacking perspective than for its art!

Thanks for the info Paul. It's made me realise how few Oly lenses I have but I'd have a hard job convincing the missus of that
Will have to give stacking a go.

I need to have a go at some stacking in camera.
