A few from Bempton Cliffs

Taken today (just!) at Tesni Ward's workshop. Met up with JohnGG and a nice guy called Gary who had a very nice Fuji XT-2 with the Fuji 200-400.

Fantastic location and some great guidance from Tesni on lots of matters ranging from camera setup to bird behaviour to locations to shoot. It's a very nice part of the country too.

That sounds like a great day Paul. I love your last abstract shot of the Razorbill. Very unusual and effective.

Just what I was thinking. Just enough body included for you to tell what it is. The fact that the white patches aren't symmetrical helps as well.

Great results, despite the weather. Interesting to see some bird shots that a birder wouldn't normally take, such as the last two. I hope you're going to share some of Tesni's setup tips!

I was waiting for these and as expected an excellent set of shots. Some really unusual shots too brilliant Paul. Looking forward to seeing more of them as I bet you took loads Just wondering what happens to the Test and Wow kit? Is it sold off at keen secondhand prices? he said hopefully

I think the Test & Wow kit is actually retailer demo kit - I suspect the reasoning is that it's better to be lent out rather than just handled in the store. Of course, that means that "ex-display" will get more wear than you might expect. The lens I have now is actually in pretty good nick, although there is a very small mark on the front element.

I'm surprised they don't fit a filter and make it a condition of the deal that the filter is kept on.

I'll look forward to your write up. We are spending a week on Skokholm in June and so will have lots of time to photograph the puffins and other birds there. Any of Tesni's tips would be relevant.
On a technical point someone recently suggested I could copy my photos from my high speed sd card to a slower one in the Mk ii. That way I won't need to buy an expensive back up device (I was considering a WD passport pro drive which has a sd slot). And I won't need lots of high speed cards. I won't be taking a laptop.

It is possible to copy all images from slot 1 to slot 2, it is a little slow but it works and is a good way of avoiding taking a laptop.

I thought this was a great feature, although I haven't needed to use it yet. But I understand it is an "all or nothing" thing. e.g. you have Card 1 and you use half of it on Day 1 and copy the images to Backup Card 1. On Day 2 you fill the rest of Card 1 and you can only copy ALL images, not just the new ones.

I've only just got home after braving the monsoon on the A1, stopping off to take some indoor shots at Wimpole Hall then hitting epic delays on the M11 (closed between Harlow and the M25) so I've not yet had time to process any images

It was a very enjoyably day despite some rain in the morning and Tesni was an excellent guide to the birds and the site and, as Paul said, gave plenty of shooting tips and guidance on camera setup, even for Gary's Fuji with which she was not familiar. She was attentive and concerned that we all got what we wanted out of the day and got the best opportunities to take the shots we'd hoped for.

All in all, a superb day in a stunning location and I definitely intend to book a day with Tesni again
