Part I: One Bridge, Five Days - An Unplanned Mission

Last Monday I popped to Severn Beach on the way to work to get a BBC Weather Watchers picture (and it was worth it as it got an Editor's Pick). It was a bit grey and gloomy but I decided to walk along the Severn Way for about 1km which takes you underneath the Second Severn Crossing. It was a nice way to start the day.

Thank you. Underneath it doesn't feel wide enough for a motorway to be above. The rest of the series will show how the weather was different every morning! Plus a few of the original Severn Bridge and the smaller part that spans the Wye.

For me the best shot is not posted as the foggy reflection on the 10th is my fave.

For the last shot shown was it possible to get to the edge of the water to make more of the reflection?

I like the under the bridge shot but it needs the rocks at the bottom of the frame cropped out for me. It would also work well in mono.

Definitely #3, but can't agree with Harold. If you took the rocks out I think you would loose perspective and a sense of reality. All nice shots though

Alf, to get closer it would involve navigating a concrete barrier and about 5m of uneven boulders as shown in this image https://www.flickr.com/photos/ajthre...7677862475704/. Maybe with hiking boots instead of work boots it could be done!

These are the part II pictures, taken last Tuesday which was bright and breezy so I walked another 0.5km along the path to get a view of the original Severn Bridge.

This one was used on the BBC Points West Weather Forecast that night.

The original Severn Bridge:

The smaller bridge on the right crosses the River Wye and the small peninsular of land is Beachley which is part of Gloucestershire and not Wales.
