  • A different kind of bird

I got some pictures of these fascinating bird like ducks. I have learned that their name is black belly whistling duck and they do whistle like a bird and do not quack at all. This bird has longer leg with webs that allow it to grab on tree branchs and small objects such as large power lines. This morning, I quickly grabbed my camera when I saw about eight of them on the power line in my back yard; but they quicky flew away when they spotted me.

Goodness me, they're really unusual pictures. I wouldn't ever have expected to see a load of ducks on a roof.

    Are they migrants?

They are migrant birds. I am not sure where are they come from but they have been staying in our areas, Katy, Texas for the past four weeks due to small lakes and grass lands in this area. They are attracted to bird feeds in people back yards and drive ways.

I like the pose of the bird just right of the middle of the 4th photo. The long legs make me think of Egyptian Geese.
