The big moon came up in exactly the right place for me: Behind the trees on the main road across the valley. I didn't have even to go outside.
Alas, this had to be two exposures combined though. Spot meter on the moon gets the lunar detail OK, but reduces everything else to black. The passing van was a pure fluke.
Pete
Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.
I like the framing around the trees Pete. I think the Hunters moon / super moon was last night. Although I took pictures last night I wanted to have another go with the high res mode tonight so used my star tracker and remote shutter to get the detail. Hope you don't mind but here is some detail after cropping to 1:1. I think the craters only show because it is not quite a full moon.
Edit Just noticed that I uploaded the wrong file so just changed the image.
Nice context shot Pete it's always difficult to get variety in a moon shot and yours worked really well.
John the detail you got in your shot is excellent. I had a quick go hand held too but didn't get anywhere near as much detail as you did. Hope you don't mind us adding images to your thread Pete.
Hi Pete, Great shot. I was always taught it was best to get stuff like moon pics in a context such as trees church steeples etc. Mind you I have never been able to get a decent one, let alone with a 24/7 delivery van in context
