Nice bit of up close and personal reportage, Steve.

      Re: Vote Leave

Those two British cuties have won me to their cause!

In another thread I did predict a win for Remain but at 3:12GMT too close to call at this early hour.

      Leave
      Votes
      5,148,591

      Remain
      Votes
      4,987,780

It's not what I hope to see but I still think Remain will win.

I'm afraid not Mark - Leave won. Any space in Australia? It might be far enough away from Boris and Farage!

I think a lot of people will be saying in the near future 'Oh dear - I didn't expect that would happen!'.

Indeed. Raises the question whether true democracy is requiring everyone to vote or individuals choosing to vote. And whether imperfect information allows the populus to make decisions (or whether people would actually choose to read it)

              Re: Vote Leave

Thanks Ross for the like and to John for the photographic comment. I fired off a number of shots (at f8 and be there) with this being the last in the sequence. Of course, as the spit seconds passed away the two Brexiteers became more and more conscious of the camera and inevitably the shot became somewhat posed. But I liked this, the last shot, because she was blowing me a kiss! Perhaps I should have stood even closer - what do you think Mark!

I doubt it, but perhaps there's still some places left on that trip to mars...

                  Re: Vote Leave

I'm just back from meeting some of our photo group. Of the four who admitted they voted Leave, three added:- 'But I never expected the result to be leave.' Two further went to say their vote was a protest hoping for Remain to win comfortably. That's 3 out of the 126501 majority already regretting their vote. I suspect there will be more!

                    Re: Vote Leave

Ah well, we'll just have to get on with it! So will Germany if it wants to continue selling us BMWs, Mercs, Audis, VWs and Leicas.

I'm left thinking things could have been so different if David Cameron had achieved a better deal in his negotiations with the EU.

Personally I think the EU project of ever closer integration in terms of fiscal and political control has failed. But unfortunately the UK will be dealt hard punishment as a deterrent to other countries wishing to go the same way - France and Holland next if the elections turn out for the Frexit and Hexit camp.

I agree, Huw, but others will be delighted. I guess that's democracy. We'll just have to hope our worst fears don't come true - let's face it, nobody knows for sure!

Feeling really depressed today. Can't get over that "what have we done?" feeling. I fear another recession and several years of uncertainty. My worst fear is that we'll be gone but not have solved any of the really important issues such as immigration, competitiveness and social justice. It's all just so sad...

I totally agree Paul, I've been speaking to colleagues in mainland Europe today, they can't quite believe what we have done.
