  • Reed Warbler where it should be

One of the numerous singing Reed Warblers at Carlton Marshes on Monday. They were very shy and kept well hidden at the bottom of the reedbeds, making it very tricky to get a clear view of them through the reeds.

    E-M1, 50-200 SWD and EC-15.

Spent all Sunday morning trying to get something like that at Wicken Fen... Failed miserably, though I did hear a Bittern!

Ended up with two photos, a Greylag goose and a Reed Bunting, nothing else worthwhile though!

I have plenty of days like that Walti. I spent a day at Minsmere a little while ago and came back without taking a single shot. It's always exciting to hear a booming Bittern, though.

        Nice captures Ron.

I must make a point of visiting Carlton Marshes again this year, it's been a long time since I've been there.

Great captures under what sounds like challenging conditions.

Well done, Ron. They can be challenging to get a clear view of.

              Classic view of the species.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Re: Reed Warbler where it should be

Many thanks for your kind comments. I wasn't very hopeful that I would be able to get a shot through the reeds but fortunately there was no wind, so the reeds were not swaying about, which would have made it just about impossible.
