  • OK - lets see your Christmas tree pictures

I think I have covered all the usual tree picture features :-)

OK: Can anyone improve on that, eh???
Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

I have to say that is one of the best of this Genre I have ever seen and it's a compliment to your obvious skills

    I don't know how I could improve on it so I won't !

Love the way you have caught the catch light in the window, always a very important feature in this type of photograph, evidence of good composition with tree being paced on a line of thirds, the motion blur is clearly a deliberate attempt to create a sense of movement and interest and the DOF gives a good sense of context. Also like the way you have delibrately tried to focus on the window frame in an attempt to create an interesting bokeh inside the room - very difficult to achieve and not sure it was successful on this occasion. Well done, as Andy has said a very good example of this style and genre.
I havent got my tree up yet - a job for tomorrow -but I doubt I would be able to improve on this.

          I humbly submit.

p.s. I believe a minor earth tremor shook the house or was it SWWLTBO hitting me for being in the way

I think I need an E-30 to ensure my horizontals and verticals are sorted out

Oh of course, I hadnt spotted the obvious. If you want to improve you really must pay attention to detail and make sure its there next time! Although I dont wish to seem too harsh as the attempt was very good and this is posted in Foto Fair and not critique.

You really are giving Snaarman a run for his money. The composition is certainly eye catching and again you have really caught the motion blur well, in fact I would almost say its exceptional with the arcs of light. well done.

Re: OK - lets see your Christmas tree pictures

Alas, here in very southern Florida, Christmas trees are a thing of the past. Here we are getting ready to decorate our Christmas palm (traditional) and orchid. The blue is the sky.

                  Happy and safe holidays,

                  Steve

Something wrong with the colour balance of your camera, Fluffy. We all know that the sky is a mid-grey colour.

Thanks, Jim. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong. Here's it redone with AWB set correctly.
