  • Still Waters in the Adelaide Hills

I've just returned from a 6 days flying visit to South Australia in the new toy (Mazda6), it really does fly!
I think this is the little hamlet of Bridgewater in the Adelaide Hills where comrade Floribunda dwells nearby.

I'm a bit hazy on its history but I believe the village took its name from this old timber bridge over Cock's Creek.
I daresay Lyn will have her own version as to how Bridgewater got its name.

There's an un-photogenic old mill there that didn't inspire me, but the autumn colour was gorgeous.
This young daredevil brought to mind the old proverb, "Pride before a fall" - the E-3 was ready but this was no fall guy.

Unfortunately Lyn and Neil were in Melbourne to watch their football team get done by a Victorian team ... so we didn't meet up.

I forgot to mention (if anyone's interested ) that this set was shot with the E-3 + 12-60mm.

Well - you are nearly right with the first photo.

It is actually the main street of Aldgate. Bridgewater is nearby.

For our forum friends, the Adelaide Hills are made up of small townships (much like your villages) and tend to nearly blend together in places.
We are fighting against development swamping the little towns' unique identities, but I am afraid it is a fight we will eventually lose.

Bridgewater was named by John Dunn, the miller who operated the "un-photogenic" water-mill there.

Aldgate - Named of course after the London Aldgate.
