In Scarborough everything still exists
...
... except for the iron railings around the North Marine Drive.
These have been replaced by the concrete breakwater top - to stop people (and bits of the castle headland behind) being washed away in stormy weather, as used to occur occasionally in bygone times when I grew up there. Some say it spoils the view of the North Sea, others say 'health & safety gone mad'.

I saw one along the Norfolk coast last year. I rather suspect it was only being kept because of the link with Dr Who!Comment

Reminds me of the red BT telephone kiosk in Harstad... handy for cheap phone calls to the UK from Norway.
