I have never really bothered much with my humble 12-50 m43rds zoom but having been reminded of its 'macro' capabilities, I tried it out in the garden this afternoon on a couple of mating ladybirds. Not pin sharp but I am reasonably happy with it. These two were at it for ages..........
The 12-50mm is a good lens and I was very happy with it (still am really) but I can't find a need to put it on when I have the 12-40mm on by default. The weight difference of 170g (212g vs 382g) on a camera/lens combination of 807g (425g+382g) seems significant on paper but I don't struggle with it and you don't choose one lens over the other because of size. Am I just being put off the F5.8 at 40mm on the kit lens in favour of F2.8?
Can't remember seeing any ladybirds this year so far so well done for finding some.
