  • Hannover, my way ...

These are the first "deliberate" pictures that I've taken with my new E420 twin lens kit. I really wanted to capture a few of the (often overlooked) architectural and sculptural details of the city in which I live and put them together in a way that made their individual patterns and forms more "visually arresting", without the distraction of their normal (mundane ) colouration.

This is just a pseudo-artsy way of saying; "I took some random, poorly-focused shots of anything that stood still for long enough and then "Photoshopped" the living daylights out of them ... decide for yourself!

I'm keeping this composite image, in case I ever write a "Guide Book to Hannover" and need a cover photo .

Not great art, but certainly great fun !

That may be true, but the results are really rather good!

    Pic 2 is very compelling

    Great stuff

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

From someone who clearly knows his onions (I've seen several of your posts ), that's high praise indeed. Thanks you !

Pic 2 is deliberatley "Heinz Beans sauce" coloured and is in fact entitled, "Human Beans", or was it "Baked Beings", I forget .

Here are a couple more (sombre) takes on the same art installation (by Timm Ulrichs).

More conventional, but also more predictable .

          Hi Naboo32 -

I saw these earlier and wanted time to ponder - I like your images/patterns and the only thing for me the colours are to bright, that may be your intention of course.

          Baked beans for me too.

          Regards. Barr1e

[Edit - I much prefer the sombre ones t-up.]
Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

            Thanks gents !

Yes, crass and vulgar was certainly my intention on the colours . I visualised the collage of the four images being used as a small scale image for a flyer, or a paperback book cover (with text running across them), rather than as individual portraits. The strong monochromatic motifs completely rob the images of their familiarity and (hopefully) compel the viewer to look twice and think about the absract shape and form of the subjects, rather than the context of the subjects themselves.

Anyway, that's enough pretentious artist talk for one night , I'm off to bed now to dream up some more ideas for garish photographs .... (maybe a bright red portrait of the rows of pews in the old church )!
