Perhaps not so funny to find a Russian Orthodox Church in Havana after the amount of time the Russians spent in Cuba. There are only a small number of Russian Orthodox Christians left in Cuba so they must still be getting finance from the greater church network as the building was in pristine condition. No photos from inside, which was amazing, as they were not permitted and the lady attendant was not to be messed with! In fact she locked us in until we parted with some cash for a very expensive candle!
Re: Cuba 320 - Our Lady of Kazan Orthodox Cathedral
Only appreciated the hat in No. 1 when I looked at the shot on a bigger screen and could see the signs on the doors. The building in the last one is very interesting, may I ask what it is?

Same as in the first shot, Our Lady of Kazan Orthodox Cathedral, just disguised with B+W and major vignetting!
Re: Cuba 320 - Our Lady of Kazan Orthodox Cathedral
Some cracking shots there. The Church of Our Lady of Kazan in St Petersburg is the Metropolitan Cathedral: I'm wondering if that applies to this church too? (In the Eastern Orthodox Church, a cathedral is merely a large church.)
Shame you couldn't get any shots inside; the Russians have cottoned on to photos being a revenue stream, so maybe a little palm greasing could have worked with the amazon guard...? Or else a Krasnogorsk F-21 camera as used by the KGB to spy on their own people. Needs a heavy overcoat with one of the buttons being a "special"....a heavy overcoat might have been a giveaway, though....

The KGB lady was a force to be reckoned with and it was far too hot for the overcoat. As we were trying to leave a "famous" Canadian photographer and his assistant arrived (thank God as it meant "she" had to get the key out of her pocket and unlock the door!) with a load of kit and a book he had done previously of church interiors. She flatly refused to allow pictures despite their best efforts, I did not find out if palm greasing was successful ploy as we spotted our chance to leave and took it!
Re: Cuba 320 - Our Lady of Kazan Orthodox Cathedral
Perhaps you could have used the distraction of the Canadian photographer to sneak a shot or two!
Joking apart, I was hoping for shots inside the Russian cathedral in Tallinn, but given the crush and the seeming army of KGB women guards, I thought that retreat was the best option. Shame though, it was glorious inside.
