Super title for this one Steve, nice juxtaposition of subjects.
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.

It works for me, the shadows of the columns adds to the shot.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

I like the shadows and contrast (on more than one level) in this image.

A truly powerful image Ric. You can imagine what Monty Python might have done with a set like that, with the column tumbling down and burying the hapless chap for leaning on it!

                Re: Column Support

I like the way you think your perspective. The composition of both images (the one in the ither thread) making the human subject comparatively small in relation to the surroundings is almost surreal. Excellent.

Tell me something. Are you a fan of the old German Expressionist films? Looking at those pictures, especially the column one, I have a feeling you might be.

Thank you Chris (Gwyver), David, Internaut, Mark and Loup Garou, great comments!

I've not knowingly viewed any of the old German expressionist films. In general I look for architectural geometry coupled with a human presence; architecture on its own seems rather sterile to my taste, so that is what I do. I also take pics of people if there's a narrative, juxtaposition or simply capturing emotions within human interactions.
My next challenge is to capture the 'timeless' type of image, again with humans being the star in the frame.

Human presence in surroundings of surreal architectural geometry is one of the main features of German Expressionist Cinema.

Great capture of what I assume is a "pillock"?

I'm not sure what he was photographing with his mobile, but it distracted him so fair enough. Photographically it would have been far better if it had been a young lady in stilettos, but sadly not, there's quite a climb to the plateau where he was standing. I'll probably return in better weather, perhaps the gods will smile on me.
