  • Canal Winter Scene

I walked from Watford to Rickmansworth along the Grand Union Canal on Sunday. As I walked under Cassio Bridge, the sight of 3 narrowboats firing up their stoves presented a striking sight. It was against the light, but the bridge offered shade for the camera.

Perhaps I should clone out the distracting light patch in the bottom left corner.

BTW, can I enter this in the 'Winter Scene' competition, and if so do I have to repost it?

    Jim that is absolutely sumptuous.

I like narrowboats anyway but that scene is buzzing with life and movement and the combination of smoke mist and light is marvelous.

I am reminded of several painters styles. It would be a fine oil painting

    Best wishes

Lovely atmospheric picture. I see what you mean about the light patch at bottom left, but I don't think it's too intrusive and hard to clone out without mucking up the reflections you would expect to see if it wasn't there. I'd leave it, personally.

Jim - that's a lovely scene - the Grand Union Canal is in view from my office windows, here in Apsley

Maybe the next e-group members meet should be here on the canal?

          What a fantastic picture Jim.

It makes me wonder if almost the same picture could have been painted a hundred or more years ago.
