  • Cuba 269 - Bag lady.

The lady in the leopard print leggings makes living selling those very thin plastic carrier bags to customers outside the food market. They cost 1mn each (there are 24mn to 1USD!), I wonder how many she has to sell to make a living? The Bici-taxi guys eagerly await overloaded shoppers, in the shade!

Another great scene. I see the bag ladies when I visit Harare.

Another worthy of the book I'd say.

She wouldn't last in South Australia - the use of these bags (unless they are the special bio-degradable type) was banned ages ago - to care for the environment. We take our own bags when we shop.
Mind you - a lot of these are heavy material that possibly takes even longer to break down.
Whatever - it is a nice scene.

A great document of Cuban life. I wonder if the new arrangements with the US mean it'll all change?
