  • First crack at Focus stacking in camera

New firmware installed (10min), putting camera back to all the right settings (30min), and a couple of hours playing around trying to get the new stuff to work.

As mentioned in another thread, I have failed miserably so far on focus bracketing, which I need to study more, but herewith a first crack at the stacking option. Since the camera does all the work for this, I managed not to get in its way! Can't honestly say that I can see much difference - at least in this shot - between stacking and just using a suitable DOF, but at least I know the technology works for when it's more appropriate to use it in future.

And just for the hell of it, the same setup in infrared - not focus stacked.

Forgetting all the high tech wizardry of how you got the image, these are very good pictures.

I had Focus BKT on my old E-500 and had to combine the images with Photoshop. The end result was ok, but I'm quite looking forward to seeing what the latest system will provide.
