  • Weekend Wildlife

it seems we have more talk threads than picture threads lately
Seeing Ed's comment prompted me to show some of my shots from last weekend.
On Saturday I visited one of my favourite local glens, Glen Cannich. The cold weather had encouraged the stags to lower levels and they were quite co-operative too!
    1. These 2 were only playing, but it does look a little bit like rutting:

    2. Silhouette, I'm not sure about this one? If the whole of the deer had been visible it might have worked better:

    3. This young stag ran away as I approached, but stopped for a quick look back before dropping down the slope out of sight:

    4. Older & Wiser - This small group were hanging around the pine forest behind the Mullardoch dam; the young stags at the back were quite playful, but the older, wiser one was keeping his beady eyes on my every move:

    5. Imperial Antlers and Branches

    6. It rained almost constantly on Sunday but this splash of colour landed on the garage roof to brighten up a very dull day:

I wonder what this weekend will bring - snow?

    Thanks for looking

Super. No 3 is a classic "stag at bay" shot.

I love the juxtaposition of the antlers and branches in No 5.

      Thanks for sharing.

The silhouette works for me. The third is nice light but I'd like to see the missing feet.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

          Re: Weekend Wildlife

I second Peter's comment on No 3, the quintessential stag shot, Iain.

Your silhouette, No 2, as you say would have been better had he all been visible but it has loads of atmosphere nonetheless.

+ In all, a wonderful set.

            Re: Weekend Wildlife

Amazing how all the deer appear in top condition. I know they should at this time of year, but that is not always the case.
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.
