A Sparrowhawk came through our garden today, one of the juvenile Starlings was not so lucky. When I heard the commotion by the bird feeders, I at first thought I would be shooing a cat..
terns from todays trip out . if I'm honest I have to say I haven't yet gelled with the mkiii with overall disappointing results.so done a total reset tonight see what that brings all tern up by jeff and jan cohen, on Flickr
Super photo as usual Jeff. Surprised you have reset the mk3, as it really much the same as the mk2, with several add-ons.
I doubt you need my advice, but I use C1 as a Shutter Speed priority, C2 as a Procap setting, C3 as a Low Speed multi shot (biffing) , and C4 as the hand held Hi res. I also set up the Aperture priority appropriately, which is another adjustable Custom setting. Focus areas and priorities as needed.
Just not getting the hit rate that I was , but checking through the shots in camera ,I’m finding that it’s quiet often a case that I have not even got the bird on the focus point . I also had the mkii set so that the Ovf was always live i.e on ,so when I brought it to the eye it was already focussing ,I have hopefully set this the same way now . I will try again now the weather is improving and if this set up doesn’t work then I’ll try again till I get it right .. it could also be a case of me being a tad rusty due to these bloody lockdowns
I went to Bempton Cliffs last week with the intention to go out in a boat to shoot diving Gannets. Unfortunately this was cancelled because the sea was too rough, so I spent some time shooting birds from the cliff top instead. Here are four from my 'Guillemot collection'. Still have Razorbills, Gannets, Kittiwake and Fulmar to sort through.
