I came across a 'bushful' of Sedge Warblers beside the river at Strumpshaw a few days ago. As I approached the bush I noticed several birds continually flying across the path to the reeds and back again. I wonder if this smartly marked specimen is a juvenile?

E-M1, 50-200 SWD and EC-14.

Try before you buy (second hand, few signs of use). The lens was traded in by someone who, according to the shop, hoped it would be the solution but got disappointed - I am inclined to agree, the E-M1 still struggles, though the AF performance is better than with any other lens I've tried with the EM-1. It's summer time meaning low water mark for sales and I may get the lens at a good price point. The IQ is superb but I miss the 400mm-700mm I am used to.

In what way do you find the E-M1 struggles Tord?

I've been using the 300mm Pro for several weeks now, usually with the MC-14 attached, and I'm delighted with the performance.

I'd recommend this lens without reservation, if Olympus improve the CAF in the next iteration of the E-M1 we'll have an excellent system.

Have you spotted that Olympus have also registered a patent for a 500 mm lens with OIS? Wouldn't that be fun!

I suggest we discuss gear in the camera sub-forum. I'll try to explain there.

Meanwhile, a few bonus photos from the same session. Quite often Storks will join the raiding party foraging for voles. Most of them are quite used to humans since they are raised in captivity and then released as part of a project aiming at reintroducing them in the wild (a true challenge as they need a leader that has taken on the migration back and forth). One guy however almost immediately took off as it spotted me at distance and indeed I could verify in the binos it was not ringed. A report of high interest as there are only few nesting pairs around.

I have just noticed that your Robin was taken at 1/20 sec Mack. You are obviously showing off because you've got 5‑Axis Sync IS. Very impressive.

A selection of shots of American White Pelicans from Saskatchewan in the 90's.

First, three flying between feeding on Little Quill Lake and their nest sites on islands on Middle Quill Lake.



Next, an adult with a fish in its pouch at Last Mountain Lake.



And finally a couple of birds swimming, one is a breeding bird, the other isn't, can anyone spot how you know?
