thanks David & Ron, I suspect the light balance hasn't helped, it was taking quite on a warm aspect by this time and I'm shooting close to the sun so I will go back to the originals and have another look (I must confess I had forgotten about Dunlin, they are pretty common down here this time of year)

A few weeks ago we decided to go for a quick walk at north Lowestoft. As it was a short walk, so I didn't bother to take my camera. While we were walking along the promenade a small wader flew up from the beach, over the sea wall and landed on the grass the other side. When I found it again I spent quite a long time trying to work out what it was before I realised that it was a Dunlin. I am used to seeing them wading about in water in the distance, not sitting on grass about three metres away. I was mortified that I had left my camera at home.

I went for a walk along Gorleston seafront one afternoon last week and, as usual, several Turnstones were scurrying about on the pier. I had forgotten how confiding they are. I think they have become used to finding titbits to eat left by the anglers there.

E-M1, 50-200 SWD and EC-14.

Have been away for some time, travelling in Asia. Will post later.

On my return home I just managed to intercept the very last hours of snow before it all melted.

1/125s, for longer exposure time would have produced more pronounced snow trails but this is about as long times I can operate the 300/2.8 + EC14 without shake blur. (My luggage with my tripod has not arrived yet).

It's an old scan and I don't have the original to hand but if I had to guess I'd say Fujichrome 100. It was my preferred film for birds on water over Kodachrome.

We saw and heard our first Skylark of 2016 this morning during a lovely sunny walk on Hengistbury Head, a little earlier than usual (although not unusually so for down here in Dorset) but what a nice reminder that Spring is on the way

The canon 70-300 LIS + EM-1 hybrid continues to please me, even though it does at times get a little weighty

I haven't shot many birds recently but here's one with the Leica Telyt-R 350/4.8. It was about 25m away and cropped about 50%

I've always felt very lucky to have got so close to such a magnificent bird.

The E3 and Bigma did a good job too.
