Very nice Peter, especially the second one. A car hide must be very useful for photographing these timid birds. It is also quite handy for getting to the spot in the first place. I suppose it is what we refer to in this part of the world as - a car.

...erm.. what are wheels? Will they help me to push it into place? It does take two of us to slide it at the moment...

Did you have trouble getting the wooden shutters through the MOT? Watch out for splinters from the seats.

A quick trip to Upton Country Park this morning, with a few seeds in a bag, brought the nuthatches out + a robin and a bluetit.

It was too cold to stand around for long and the early light was a bit harsh but the EM-1 + 40-150 Pro 2ith 1.4 TC did a reasonable job (these are quite large crops as the birds were a bit "flighty" )

the next two are grab shots when I spotted a bit of bother between Nuthatch and Robin, I don't know what the nuthatch said, but robin too umbrage

I had an ex BT yellow Bedford van with a bracket for a tripod head attached to the inside of the drivers door. That's probably an MOT fail these days.

Some smashing shots there with good light. It's always nice to see a Nuthatch but I haven't found one for over a year. Nice work Brian.

Thanks Ron, there seem to be a resident group of them at this location and some appear at another local reserve but otherwise we see very few, so its always nice when these decide to appear

I have at least one that comes to my feeder most days. It intimidates everything except the Robin. I have lived in the same house in Manchester for 35 years & never saw one until about 5 or 6 years ago.

Ron will correct me if I am wrong but I assume this Mistle Thrush is using my neighbour's tree as a scratching post. Only an occasional visitor to my garden - sorry if you see them every day.

This was April 2014. But I am stuck at home and looking back. I'm seeing a few pictures I haven't really looked at closely. But it seemed a nice behavioural shot.

It has been rather quiet for birds near me recently, so I haven't taken many photographs. However, here are a few odds and ends which I have seen at Lowestoft in the past few days.

E-M1, EC14 and 50-200 SWD.

This poor Turnstone has lost a leg at some stage but it doesn't seem to have affected it too much. I often see it hopping about and feeding with the other Turnstones. These birds are enthusiastic and brazen scavengers, so I am not surprised they get into trouble sometimes.

One of the car parks contains a lot of puddles which act as magnets for gulls. Most of them are Black-headed but there are a few different species mixed in amongst them. I am pretty sure that this is a Mediterranean Gull but I am no expert on gulls and am willing to be corrected.

Even when there is nothing else to be seen there are usually a few Pied Wagtails flitting and strutting about. This one was basking in the sunshine on the sea wall.
