  • Naval Museum & Portsmouth

Some shots from a weekend in Portsmouth, with behind-the-scenes access to the stores of the National Museum of the Royal Navy. These are basically just record shots, but perhaps of interest, as most people won't get to see these things in the open museum:

Firstly - a view of HMS Victory, under heavy restoration for the next few years, and without most of her masts & rigging, looking decidedly stunted

The ship's bell of the original Ark Royal, from the 1500's

    A collection of ships' lifebelts

A collection of ships' honours boards

    Some naval doors

    Some ships' bells

Uber-patriotic poster, announcing Nelson's victory at Trafalgar

And a couple from the harbourside at dusk

A very nice set, full of interest and finished with an incredibly colourful artistic shot. I love the piece of early 19th Century propaganda!
