Re: First Snow
Brrrrrr. I love the white stuff as it's better than cold rain which is what we get a lot of
I like this image. Snow is a difficult thing to reproduce in an image but you have done well here. I have already commented in the gallery on this one.
Well done

The error with snow as I understand it is that Auto WB sets itself to 18% grey hence it is necessary to increase the exposure to correct it.
By the way, your treatment worked on this image.

Re: First Snow
Hi Steve,
Yeah I know about the troubles with taking snow pic's, I quickly took this as it was still coming down and melting on my warm E-510, I just forgot to bump the exposure up. Can you believe this we got over 30cm for our first snow, and it's still snowing, we have damn near as much as we had all last winter.

I didn't want to be too critical here as this is not the part of the forum for that, but many people will be photographing similar scenes over the next few months and iMacs photo was a classic example to emphasise this point.
30cm for the first snowfall is quite something. It would be a nice change to see any snow at all this winter in the south of England, especially with the E-30 competition.

Re: First Snow
Goodness me, that's a lot of snow. Will it stay with you now until Spring? If so, you're going to have plenty of opportunity to take pictures for your E-30 competition
It looks pretty, but I'd probably be longing for some greenery after a week or so.

Re: First Snow
Well that's kinda an unknown, it's about a month early for us to have this amount of snow. So I'm guessing that this will not all stay around, with the ground not really frozen yet it, and if we get mild temp like 0 to +1 deg c through the daytime with a clear sky it will slowly melt, unless it rains and then it will really go quickly.
