Hummingbird Hawk Moth

I spotted this in my garden earlier this evening, it's the first time I've managed to see one.

Apologies for the poor quality pics, the garden was in shade and these were hurriedly snapped images before the moth disappeared.

I'll stake out the garden tomorrow in case it returns, I'll try to get better pics if it does.

I have seen only one this year but it was flitting about between flowers so quickly that I didn't get any shots. You have done much better than me Dave. They are brilliant little creatures.

We had one in the kitchen last night! Left it on the wall....but we don't know where it is this morning. Shame - I wanted to get a few decent shots of it.....

you did well to catch it flying.
