  • A few from The Louvre, Lens (Northern France)

I went to The Louvre art gallery in Lens (a town near to Lille in northern France) today. I thought the people and the building were much more interesting (and photogenic) than the art!

An interesting set Paul, you seem to have captured the mood of why the gallery and people are there.

#2 is stand out for me. So much to see in that image.

Holding hands I like too - nicely captured and seen.

Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

A very nice set, holding hands is the stand out for me.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Really great series. I assume #1 was taken with a tripod? Did they not mind within a gallery?

Do they still have the CloarkRoom in the basement?

I agree these are really thought provoking Paul. You've nicely captured the atmosphere in the gallery. Nos #1 & #2 work especially well.

I just tested the camera on the edge of one of the plinths. I'm sure tripods wouldn't be allowed.

Possibly - I didn't have need to find it!

Certainly a building designed for photographers, isn't it? Some nice images there.

What I really like about these is that they are not just a series of record shots documenting your visit to the gallery. Each picture captures a member of the public connecting with the exhibits and is done in a very creative way, through imagination and observation. Take No 5 (Here's looking at you kid) for example. The lady viewing the exhibit even looks like it and she is staring intently, as if she is aware of the similarity too. Whatever thoughts are going through her mind, it has certainly caught her attention and forged a connection with her. This simply would not have worked with a person with, say, long dark hair. It may be that you was not aware of this when taking the shot and the compatibility of the subject was serendipity, but I think that is one of the great things about your photography, Paul, your instinct and subconscious eye for a great picture.
