    Sunset beach

    Here are a couple for shots from the beach last night. When I arrived I was thinking of mono shots as the fog was thick (I have mono candidates) as I was shooting things developed into this.


    I was trying a part of the beach I have shot at in a long time as I thought it would be good in mono.


    This was taken handheld at ISO 800 on my E-M5 with the 12-50 kit lens

    A bit over-saturated for my taste Alf (and that's saying something!). Nice composition though - maybe I'd prefer the mono versions?

      That is how it looked and they have had very little pp other than lifting shadows and controlling the highlights.

        Reminds me of the time I visited a location at 5.00am every morning for two weeks, hoping for a spectacular sunrise. Eventually I got it, only for a friend to comment that it looked a bit unreal!

        Spectacular, Alf, I bet you soon forgot about shooting mono!

          Wow those colours.

          #1 is may favorite with the purple / blues on the left and pink / oranges on the right in the sky

            Its all about the colour and you would loose all this in mono.
            Most used: EM5i + 12-200mm, In briefcase: E-PM2 + 12-42mmEZ

              Some trips yeild little due to lack of light. I did of course stop thinking about mono but 25 years ago when I only had one camera such thoughts would have been very different of course I would have been changing film mid roll

              I can see me converting these to mono for some reason but the shots I took earlier probably will be.

              The first shot is a product of having a second camera and working handheld while the main camera is on the tripod I am learning from this and it reminds why I like to work handheld I am really enjoying using a second camera and the E-M5's size (no grip) really helps with carrying it
