    Street Moon.

    Inspired by Timmy's moonshot tonight I decided I should stir myself and try one myself.

    However....it was ffflipping cccold so I didn't prepare properly or think too much about appropriate lens, ISO etc. etc.

    So here you have a "Street" photograph of the moon, E-M5 with a 25mm lens at f1.8, ISO 16000 and hand held.





    My defence is that I did at least try and I managed to not only get the moon in the shot but Jupiter too and a convenient bit of contrail back lit by the moon.

    Must learn to engage brain before picking up a camera.

    Well done for making the effort, Peter, you wouldn't have got me out there tonight!

    Looks like Jupiter moves slightly faster than the moon (in relation to Earth, of course).

      I stood outside and looked at the moon last night.... and then went into the warmth deciding I had enough moon shots. So well done for persevering.

        I know what you mean about the cold putting you off doing things properly. I want for a walk yesterday lugging all the gear and couldn't be bothered opening the bag

        There's something vaguely avant garde about the randomness of things in that shot.

          Thanks for your supportive replies folks. After posting the shot I instantly regretted it but I don't feel quite so bad about it now.

              Hi Tim.

              Jupiter isn't always near the moon and as John observed it moves relatively fast. When it is visible you can often even see its 5 moons with binoculars.
              Tonight (if it's not cloudy where you are) it is above the moon at about the 1 o'clock position.
              A very useful free programme for finding/identifying "heavenly bodies" including satellites, space station etc. is Stellarium. http://www.stellarium.org/en_GB/
