A nice set that shows us the other side of Australia's weather. I like the way that the sets of chevrons on the last picture don't quite match - two sets are that bit newer as if someone really did need the sign above! Otherwise my favourite is number 2, with the drops about to fall. Thanks for posting,
#1 looks SO like the USA! All it needs is a Bob Evans and its "famous" sausage soup...! And the people in their wet weather gear - priceless.
For artistic shots: three raindrops not four - crop the one on the right...! But I do like the water splashes. Now - Wangaratta showground: just the umbrellas would make a great shot; and the people crossing the road - crop off the left side to the first one crossing, and another great shot.
Ed - As far as the rain goes, ...the only difference is that it isn't 30'C over there.
Ralph - Thanks for the feedback. That thoroughfare now serves as a popular route for recreational cyclists, which is how I happened to be there.
John - the 2nd one was taken last Friday and since the development this past week of a monsoonal rain band stretching obliquely 3000kms right across Oz from the Kimberly through the centre down into VIC, the SA bushfires are now well under control. We have had no local bushfires for several weeks.
Keith - Yes, sadly Australia is very Americanized, and thanks for those constructive criticisms, I've taken them all on board.
So now we know where you get your early morning Brekky!
If you cloned out the "Wangaratta" sign the queuing brollies at the showground would look quintessentially English.
I love the raindrops in the puddle shot.
Glad to see your summer is not all beers, beaches and BBQS as we're sometimes led to believe!
John

I wouldn't mind a bit of 30 over here at the moment!
I was thinking: those US-style signs, the right grouping could make an interesting, surreal image. Especially, maybe, with something included that is a total contrast.
It is a while since I have been to OZ, and have been to the US quite a few times, so my view of OZ was that it was a pale imitation of the US, shopping malls were less luxurious, shop signs more tacky, it had the atmosphere of small town South West US, rather than big City US

As a matter of fact, I've never set foot in either Hungry Jacks or Mac's, nor shall I, toxic soy saturated products aren't my tac, John - (don't get me started!)
Would never have imagined that any such queuing brollies scene in Wang' could look quintessentially English, though.
Be assured John that the beers, beaches and BBQs are as much a part of our summer scene as ever, although the nearest beach to Wang' is 180mi away, but the local pools and river swimming hole are all well patronised.

No doubt those signs could form a surreal image, Keith but the less they're promoted the better I think.

I've only visited the US once, Dixon, Illinois where mercifully I really didn't get to see any really big shopping malls, Derek. However, Melbourne CBD now has a number of US style shopping centres which I studiously avoid.
The chap in number eight struggling with two toddlers and a brolly made me chuckle. Unfortunately I got caught in a similar downpour today without the protection of a brolly or those natty red waterproofs.
Thanks for sharing some of the day to day life in "Wang", I feel I'm begining to get to know the place.
