A bird for Christmas?

Had to walk to local shops today so armed with the camera and the newly acquired 40-150 plus 1.4 converter attached this is the first try with both attached....considering that very few birds were around in the local woods, something caught my eye flitting around in the undergrowth, waited and waited and sure enough it appeared but it was very nervous feeding and looking for food up and down and around. This is the best shot i caught of the..?? Firecrest?? Not sure myself but I think that's what it is...

It looks like a Goldcrest to me Peter (no stripe over the eye). Super little birds.

Thanks Ron, I've just found my RSPB book and can confirm, it was extremely difficult to catch with the camera...maybe one day i'll take a clearer picture...

These birds are hard enough to see around our area let alone photograph Peter, well done on getting a shot.

Was this seen in the woods near Police HQ?

Thanks Dave....no it was taken in the woods on the Heath beyond the village green....had no problem focusing..... the bird just would not keep still, more practice needed. Will be in touch after Xmas for another get together..
