Jeremy, Well Done that is a good start but no tree or decorations up before December or Santa kills Reindeer - its bad luck

Shilpa, Thank you for popping in and your kind comments

I have just had to make a rush birthday card for a friend, who is coming to dinner tonight and its her birthday tomorrow and she has got fired this morning ... cutbacks she is not too unhappy as she is 68 years today and was going to retire in March 2015 so now has all the time in the world for Christmas shopping ... or not

"Fired"? Sounds more like redundancy, which can pay well if you don't get re-employed.

Harold, they have made her life "difficult" she is a Sales Assistant and they have put her on "targets" and reprimanded her each month she does not get the full Target ... at her time of life, she is most unlikely to get re-employed and being "honest" she had told friends she was going to retire in March :0 which is true, but a so called friends at "work" told the area manager

Anyway, she is looking forward to dinner here tonight and a bit of Vouvrey too but I expect there will be a few emotional moments - because they have been most unfair ... she is to honest for her own good ... they cannot make her redundant because they will employ more Sales Assistants its a posh well known furniture store (that is losing hand over fist, sales - to new comers in the market ... Neptune in Winchester is one who is taking massive amounts each week ...

That looks very much like a case of constructive dimisal, if she goes through with it. Harold

Yes that is what we said, when she received a dreadful letter last week, for saying"Yes boss" to her manager when he asked her to do the "cashing up"

no nasty tones, just "yes boss" as she went off to do it

anyway she still has a job and income so we learn tonight ... for another month ...

That's plain harrassment. Retain that letter. I helped my sister-in-law to draft a letter to report this kind of thing to senior management. She no longer suffers these problems. Harold
