    My wife has a moth trap in the garden which catches an amazing variety of fascinating moths. I rather liked this hairy one:

      I appreciate the humour, but no moths were harmed in the taking of these photos!

      The moth trap is basically a very bright, specific wavelength light which attracts the moth into a wooden box with perspex lids. The box is lined with egg boxes on which the moths 'roost' and can be examined and catalogued the following morning. The moths rest up during the day and then fly off the following evening.

        This is actually a White Ermine Spilosma lubricipedaand is unusaual in that you rarely see the orange abdomen when at rest.
        Excellent images make identification easy, well done.
        The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.
