  • Cheap camera, free lens, art filters

    So:

I've not taken many photos recently, so I took my E-PL3 into town with the 15mm body cap lens I won last winter. This combination is not exactly promising, but the trick is to relax, point and shoot, and try out the "Art" modes.

Obviously I never use anything other than Aperture Priority or full Manual, and wouldn't be seen dead with the camera switched to Auto.

Still, I will give these joke processing modes a try, so here we go:

A String Quartet in the new shopping precinct. I suspect they are there to drum up business and give Newbury a thin veneer of class....

Down a side alley, enjoying a nice cup of tea and a sit down, and the camera down on the pavement..

Certainly a fun thing to do and the pictures are interesting.

I always keep my camera on iAuto, just in case, at least then I know I'll get the shot if something pops up...

The vast majority are taken on Aperture and in the studio it's all Manual.

I will have to try out some of these "In Camera Effects"

    Thanks for the idea!

Just a couple of points. A) did you get weird stares with the camera on the pavement (or is it the norm in Newbury), and B) how did you get up again?

Love the string quartet shot. The guy on the right in the deckchair adds an air banality to it all. Anyhow, has Newbury not got enough class without needing four pretty young ladies playing classical music to add some?

Oh, were they pretty? I didn't notice, I was more concerned with my exposure.

                No, it's that lens:

                Fixed at f8.

You need to watch your exposure with a lens like that...

Is that enough to buy a spark plug for the Scooby?

I've been doing something similar for a while. My E-410 is set up as an OM2 and I randomly grab a MF prime as a walkabout kit.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Alas no. You are talking £25 for an iridium plug. I need six. I'll be here a while.

"Oh. That was metaphorical, I didn't actually mean a dime..."

The Canadian dollar coin has a Loon (Diver) on it so it's known as a Looney. The $2 coin is a Twoney. You could ask for a looney and then get into a detailed explanation as to what a looney is.

                        Nice set Pete
I really like the last one its the perspective and colours palette.

Dont knock what you have not tried as in auto and art filters though as they have their place just like manual. I say use what you want to get the desired effect.

That guy on the deckchair certainly looks like he's enjoying himself, just left wondering whether he likes music as well!

But apart from the banter, great shots, excellent.

Nobody has mentioned the flower pots and I love them.
And did anyone notice the handbag display behind the pretty girls. I bet not.
