  • Cosford airshow

Made the annual journey to Cosford, after spending time trying to second guess the weather forecasters. Turns out the best forecast came from the man that sold my train ticket. It was nice with only a drip here and there and a heavy shower just as the Typhoon arrived. I'm pleased to report the M-10 can get wet and survive, but I must admit the shower was not that heavy when I decided to throw caution to the wind and ditch the brollie.

Here are 2 planes I haven't seen before and they came out quite good. Both cropped below 2000px on the long edge, so way in.

    1308x981 crop ISO400 300mm f7.1 @ 1/1600---+1.3EV on both. There's actually a better one than this.

    1665x1248 crop ISO400 258mm f6.5 1/1000. This one pretty much qualifies for a space on a wall I think.

So when I and the camera had a meeting of the minds it was almost FLAWLESS. When we didn't....well those files are gone. Happy to say I tossed more because of me than because of the camera, a lot more. There were 3 I can think of were all you can see are the blurry blobs of the Typhoons exhaust, and somehow the camera thought it had focus and took the shot. Most were this good and better. I took the 40-150mm lens, but never put it on, the 75-300mm was good enough even in these conditions. A member has the Typhoon image perhaps they will post it so you can see.

Love the first shot of the Hawker Hunter...probably one of the best looking jets ever built (in my humble opinion ).
The second shot is terrific as well...nicely framed, I think the other plane is the English electric Canberra, but I stand to be corrected if I am wrong.

Having jollied a flight in both, Hawker Hunter T7 and a Canbera B1, I can confirm you are correct on both counts.

Hawker is the T7 trainer 2 seat version. Not sure, but think the Canberra is a B2 version?
It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.

          Very nice shots.

The Hunter is indeed a T7 XL573 (civil registration G-BVGH) owned by someone from Exeter.

The Canberra is a PR9 photo recce variant XL573 (civil registration G-OMHD) based at Kemble in Gloucestershire and is the only remaining flying Canberra on the British register.

          Regards.

During flight training in WW2 my dad also did the illustrations of cadet life for the yearbook, class book. I remember one of the cadet in the front seat, the instructor in the back screaming 'MORE RIGHT RUDDER" the poor cadet's right foot was through the side of the airplane.

A whole bunch of right rudder there!

                Great pics guys!
I went to the annual RNLAF open days at Gilze-Rijen AFB. To bad my trusty e-420 was still in repair.
So i had to work wit the Canon powershot A495 point n shoot.
Got my camera fully repaired back today so now i'm waiting for September 13 and September 14 when the Belgium Air Force has it's 100yrs anniversary airshow at Kleine Brogel AFB. These open days are organised in conjunction with the Sanicole International Airshow team. So when i'm back from that show i will post some pics.
