I went for a walk on Lowestoft North Denes on a sunny evening about three weeks ago and there were Whitethroats perched high up in every other tree, singing lustlly. I knew that there were plenty of insects about (!) but I didn't realise quite how many until I looked at the photographs. That explains the number of Swallows zooming around.
Thanks Tord. They were taken at f/8. The light was good enough to stop down a little to increase the DOF. The lens works much better in the summer than in the winter.

Yes, my attention was brought to how many flies you were able to get in focus. Say you were at 10 meters from subject (typical distance at least for me) then you would get about 25 cm depth of field at 300mm and F/8.
