What a Morning

Glorious sunshine this morning, so it had to be a cooked breakfast at the Hiker Café on Hengistbury Head followed by a Wildlife Wander for an hour or so.

One interesting discovery, I have got so used to the stabilising effect of the inertial mass of the 50-200 on the EM-1 that I really struggled to hold the 75-300 steady!

But, the song of Whitethroats was all around and I managed to get a few reasonable shots, I saw my first ever Green Hairstreak (and got a shot ) and my friendly Stonechat came and sat by us for a while

All that and back home for coffee by 10-30

Thanks Stephen, it was the only shot today (apart from the macro) that didn't involve long distance and a big crop.

Whether or not its the same bird we often see what looks like this one in this area of the Head and its total fearless when its in the mood. I got to about 6ft from it and it was still there when we moved on

That Stonechat looks quite grumpy Brian, but a lovely shot and the butterflies are gorgeous.
Getting colder here now as we head into winter, so opportunities for photographing insects is fading fast. Will be nice to see your summer shots.

I'm waiting for the bugs, bees and butterfly population to sort itself out as I usually have a few "Macro Mornings" for my camera club but at the moment its still very erratic in my garden. Its been an odd year so far, I think its the variable weather
