  • Kilt Rock

I'm on Skye for a week, HOORAY!!.

I found a rather nice Kilt Rock viewpoint 10 mins walk from our cottage. SO much better than the council one, but a bit dodgy since the tripods on the edge of a cliff of unknown height. Thse were taken at about 6:00am, just about enough sun came out, but the sky's were a bit boring.

Three cracking shots, especially the pano. But all great colours and light.

3 great shots John from a great viewpoint, as you say better than the tourist one. The panorama is a cracker, it looks a touch damp at the Quiraing!

            Nice work John.

I hope you don't mind me saying but with a little boost in contrast that pano really sings mate.

              Thanks for the comments.

Alf - yep probably could do with some tonal adjustments, I'm on a laptop with a less than ideal screen!

A great illustration of how focal length puts a different in perspective on a view.
Three fantastic images too and I think the sky looks interesting enough in my favourite, the panorama

Mark - you must've been doing the "lean out over the railings" thing for the waterfall/rock shot, a big risk to the camera

As I recall (24 years ago) there was only a very slack, 3 strand wire fence at that time which I just climbed through and did lean over just a bit to get the waterfall.
But gee, hasn't IQ come a long, long way since those days of an OM2 and film. And so have I when I think about it!

Edit: My IQ has actually declined! ! !

                              Re: Kilt Rock

Cheers all. For reference, the roadside car park you can see in the foreground is the one south of the signposted Kilt Rock one. If you parked there it'd spoil the pano! park a bit farther south and walk up the road to the N end of a prominent flat topped hill guarded by a ring of 3m tall crags, a gate leads up to the right. The pano is from the N edge of that hill. The shots of the crags were taken from the cliff top you can see in the F/G. Beware of the cliffs, neither camera or photographer would survive a fall from them.

You need to get there early for the light and to make sure there are no cars about.
