Sgurr an Airgid

Not much to show from this weekend so I thought I would post some shots from a hillwalk last weekend. Sgurr an Airgid is a Corbett of 841m in Kintail and the chance of some long range views really appealed. The walk starts more or less at sea level and almost immediately the views back to Loch Duich were impressive.

1. Allt a' Chruinn and the Morvich causeway with the Clachan Duich Burial Ground and the remains of St. Dubhthach's Church


2. A slightly more distant view with the addition of a tree!


3. Top left are some of the 5 Sisters


4. There was a slight haze at the top but the Cuillin and the Skye bridge were still in view


5. The inevitable panorama, Loch Duich and surrounds


6. An infinity pool with a view


The light to the east had improved on the way back and these 2 glens looked magnificent from high up

8. Glean Lichd looking towards Affric


9. No matter how hard I tried to slide this back it wouldn't shift Great views to the north too

I see you leave the 'A' level climbing trips for when I'm away Iain (thankfully)! Some spectacular scenery expertly captured. Can't really pick a favourite - honours shared between 1,3 and 5.

A stunning series of landscapes, the light was just right to help you capture the structure and contours of those majestic hills.

I'm a marshland / coastal man so this isn't my favourite type of countryside but you made me reconsider my bias with these shots

A cracking set Iain.

More than a little different to my surroundings. Exactly the opposite in fact with miles of salt marsh.

A wonderful set of images of a breathtaking part of the world. I particularly like no 3.

Thanks for all the kind comments! I was travelling light for this trip, these are all taken handheld with the E-PL5 and 12-50mm lens; I also took the 40-150mm but the slight haze at the top seemed to affect the zoomed shots more than the wider angle ones.
Now looking forward to another hill, .....Steve?

A cracking set. Not a Corbett I've been up. Must get fitter.
Top right No.3 The Saddle, now there's a challenge for you.... by the Forcan Ridge so called because its ....F....very narrow.
No.8 Bheinn Fhada on the left and the '3 Brothers' on the right.
Glen Lichd I can just about recall on a New Year's Day recovery walk many years ago. Minus 5, 6 inches of snow, blinding light, blinding headache.

Thanks Duncan, it was a very enjoyable walk. I wish you had been there to identify all the hills I could see - most of Scotland I think. Using the bins I could easily identify Bealach na Ba and thought I could see a distant glimpse of Ben Nevis, a great place.
