One has to live in China to appreciate how many people there are, and sometimes return home where a busy weekend in London feels like everyone has stayed at home.
So, walking on a local "Mountain" - Suzhou is a flat area generally - I was prepared for the teeming herd on a holiday weekend. Any supermarket or shopping area would have been worse.
Here's a few, where I managed to wait for gaps in the crowds off the main track. There is a Buddhist temple, and the locals pray for love/family/success etc.
This is past the worst of the crowds, and about half way up.

This won't be quiet for long.

The smaller temple (The larger is surrounded by trees and any picture is just walls and trees.)

Stirring the ashes.

Lighting the sticks

Candles
