Having spent a tiring but successful day at the Cuckoo Fair today (and made a bit of money to pay for my next purchase, an EC-14) I decided to have a quick play at shooting House Martins as they dashed about the sky, at distance
The light was good and the contrast fine so I started out using pre-focus to about 100ft, CAF with 9 box setting, 6fps ISO 400 with f4 which gave me around 1/2000th sec
The hit rate was pretty good at around 40% and once lock was on it held it for a few frames
I then tried it with SAF + MF with the settings otherwise the same and the results were poor
So, here are a few shots for you to examine and tell me how I'm doing
un-resized crop of a single Martin

A short chase sequence with two house martins which was much easier to get a lock on (cropped to about 50% of frame then resized down for the web )
