  • a Good Friday

Good Friday our friends were due but had a last minute change of plan to Saturday morning - SO Nick and I find ourselves with a spotless clean home (free of kids stuff "evicted" out to sheds) and go to Lidl then Waitrose for a spot of shopping

First, some Roses just inside the doors ... for the table

then, a real treat, my Favourite Red Wine - well it was on special offer and it is Easter Holiday weekend

Having unpacked the shopping and filed it, we decided to go to the local Farm Shop for lunch - Nick drove and I took a Power Walk. Along the way I had to stop for ...Bluebells

We sat outside on the decking in the sun, just enjoying the quiet and sipping our respective coffee and tea, observing people arriving and leaving and their food orders - waiting for ours. Nick had ordered on arrival for both of us

After a couple joined parents and their 10 minutes ago order arrived we asked We should have asked sooner - our order had been "lost" We cancelled it and left making for the Butchers where we purchased some nice thin, Rib Eye Steaks

The Cafe' manager came after us saying "so sorry, we are so busy ; ..." I said "thanks, we dont actually care how busy YOU are we waited an hour for lunch" ! We were both, by now STARVING having enjoyed the aromas from everyone else s plates as they passed by us ... and I left Nick paying for the Steaks and went on my return home Power Walk home

I had to stop for this Bee - it made my day I should have changed the focal point ... next Bee and the Pussy Willow

Arriving home, I captured the breath taking Apple Blossom a Promise of things to come in July or August, round and red

Our three Red Tulips are out - each year the outer is paler than the previous year, but they always bring a smile

Nick cooked the steaks, for he is far better than I at these and we sat at the table to eat

Have I said "I lurve the 60m Macro"

with the delicious special day red wine

and the Roses centre piece - Happy Easter Weekend one and all

FYI - Sandra has a server problem, has been offline for over 24 hours - her mobile phone is down also, which accounts for her silence.

I am guessing you were mowing your own and a relative or twos lawns lots of cuttings for the compost stack

Horses do that "lawn Cutting" quite well (but rag wrap their feet if they shoes on) or you get Divots

What a very very Good Friday. You did not waste a single second, not only did you end up with a tasty home cooked meal accompanied by that velvet wine, you also had a camera full of beautiful shots. How good is that.

                      Re: a Good Friday

Hi Sandra and Brian Thanks for your kind comments. It was a "Whale of a Weekend"

Our friends arrived Saturday 10.30am and the "Party started" with coffee and shooting for the Chaps outside as Nick set up Targets (Bulls Eye Score sheets) and the Five little Ducks.

Us Ladies sat down to do some sketching and drawing and exchange hints and tips on our Pottery ; Sewing:- Quilting ; Embroidery Cross Stitch and I have been using some thin ribbons for enhanced 3D effects. We got our Easels and paints out and explored my Pinterest board Saves of "more things to do"

We Ladies, then relocated to the Kitchen and made Michel Roux "Little French Pork Pies with Apple and Chestnuts" x 8 - so enjoyable chatting as Norma chopped the Smoked Ham and I cooked the bacon then pork loin and it was all whizzed up with 4 beaten eggs and placed in T cups lined with puff pasty in layers with the apple cider brandy sauces and chestnuts and baked golden - later served with Watercress/Spinach/Rocket Salad and Beetroot

Sunday was much the same - except we watched a film DVD "Now you see me" about MAGIC and Cons ... such a laugh and very enjoyable and we enjoyed Roast Gammon stuffed Turkey roll ; Hassleback roast potatoes - some with crumbled Stilton on top and veg BUT Norma and I whizzed off to the Bluebelle Woods at 6pm when it ceased raining (another thread)

Monday, we made it to Winchester for a walk about the Old Castle ; into the Great Hall to capture the Round Table which the Knights sat around and out to the Army Museums of the Guerka etc regiments and the Peninsula Barracks now millionaire homes and home for Jacket Pots + sauteed and diced farm chicken breasts served with a cheese, white wine and pepper sauce

Nick and sat down - nay fell down on the sofa after they left at 7pm completely cream crackered after a full and enjoyable 4 day Easter holiday and looked forward to Work on Tuesday and only two Tots

Our friends very much enjoyed it and he, who has lost so much weight actually ate well and put on 4 Lbs of which his Oncologist was very pleased with on Tuesday

Next weekend ... we are spending it in bed resting ... nay packing and taking belongings packed to storage
