  • Devi's Punchbowl - pano

Over near Hindhead you will find the Devil's Punchbowl, a natural amphitheater apparently scooped out of the earth by the devil, who I guess was having a hissy fit.

Anyway, the result (now that the A3 trunk road has been diverted) is very pleasing on a nice day.

Right down at the bottom I put together this pano and an individual shot of a timeless scene..

    and..

Both taken with the 15mm body cap lens - selected to lend that antique look. OK, it was the only lens I had with me.

Nice colours courtesy of DxO Ektachrome preset. :-)

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

The lens did fine. A good workman just grabs the nearest tool that will get the job done.

Nice pano and the 15mm did do a nice job. I reckon the Devil just wanted grazing for his ponies!

The lens did well but I feel the punchbowl is best viewed from the rim.

Yes, I agree. In retrospect I wish I had done a pano from the top, but we were on an emergency route march to get to the tea shop before it closed

There are very few things that out-vote taking a picture, but a nice cup of tea and sit down is one of them

You're certainly getting the best from this lens - maybe because you didn't have to pay for it? And therefore had more dosh available to fund cream-tea hunting trips.
