  • Swan Mayhem

We went for a wander along the marshes at Keyhaven this morning, bright grey skies and quite a difficult flat contrasty light.
On the way back I spotted a group of Swans getting very aggressive with each other so fired off a few frames
It was only when I got home I realised I had been shooting with spot metering enabled so have had to do quite a bit of PP in LR5.3.

What do you think of the results (Em-1 + 75-300 mk2 with SAF)

I think the results are fantastic Brian does not look like you had a metering problem. The white of the swans are beautiful. I take it you took these in raw so would have had about 3 ev to play with?

Thanks Birdboy, yes RAW files to work with and fair crops too (these are around 40% to 50% of the full dimensions before resizing for Flikr)

I think the spot metering held the whites but didn't do much for the shadow detail which was very dark (as one would expect in this case)

The original RAW files looked pretty rubbish before processing to be honest

Brian, Great Swans and lurve that conflict between them - too many Males and Testosterone for this time of year - they are "sorting out the Men from the Boys"

          If only you knew

Some of my best results come from "unexpected" settings
