I had a rather damp week on the Isle of Man at the end of August watching the Manx GP motorcycle racing. The poor weather meant some delays to the schedule and some shortened races (Friday's races were postponed until the Saturday so I missed them as I was boarding the ferry to come home
)
I hadn't taken a camera to the Island for several years so I was a bit out of practice with my panning. Having a DSLR there for the first time was a revelation though; being able to see immediately that all I had captured was a back wheel meant that I could learn from my mistakes that day rather than the following year
The first three shots were taken at a corner called the Gooseneck, which is part of the climb onto the Mountain section of the course. Two were on the Monday in the Senior Classic race, the other was in Wednesday's Junior Classic race.

For the Junior race (modern 600cc machines) on Wednesday afternoon we moved to the Sulby straight, where these last two were taken. The bikes are going flat out here, probably 160+ mph on these machines, so panning was a bit hit-or-miss. A couple of years ago at the TT a racer on a 1000cc bike was clocked at 206 mph here

All shots were with the E-3, those at the Gooseneck with a 50-200mm SWD, the Sulby ones with a 14-54mm + EC-14. Slight levels, contrast and sharpening in Olympus Master. Slight crops on 3rd and 4th shots.
Cheers,
JohnGG
