'Last of the Pool Room hustlers' ...
spotted these guys yesterday as we were
scoffing baked roast beef at the Thoona Pub.

    Un-cropped, unedited full-frame below

    XZ-2 @ max zoom (35mm equiv' = 112mm) from about 40ft, processed from RAW.

As a matter of interest, I posted a thread on the Thoona Pub last July and the dinner we ate yesterday was identical!

Now "a little bit of English" is all Chinese to me there, Bill as I haven't heard that expression before ... presumably Pool Room jargon I take it?

But that kid with the cue sure looks like a pro and I did notice that his young friend didn't get too many shots!

Looks like a real hustler to me, I wouldn't want to play him - at least not for money!

Great bit of cloning on the watching boy's head, by the way, Mark. Very impressive!

A nice bit of cropping. You'd get locked up here for taking photos of kids!

Sadly, you would have a lot of explaining to do.

Far from undetectable John, but then you weren't supposed to notice! And btw, "Hustler" was the word I was groping for (not scalper) Thanks!

Not sure just how much leeway there is here with regard to photographing people on trains or indeed kids such as these in public places ... I suppose that every streetscape must inevitably capture people who may believe that their privacy is violated when such pictures are published. Anyway, I agree that I should probably refrain from continuing the practice until I know precisely where the line of the law is drawn in this country.

Sadly you are most likely right, John.
There have been and there still are some very high profile celebrities who have alarmed the public and prompted governments to enact some very strict laws.

Mark, the only reason I noticed the cloning was that the thing on the wall in the original was missing from the edited shot!

John, you are very observant. I knew that might be a dead giveaway.
